How it started

This began as a project during my time at university. I worked a retail job and was looking for a way to search for fridges by their width and height. It seemed there was no easy way of doing this and so there began my project: fridges.co.nz

How it went

Using my knowledge of Wordpress websites and SQL, I went ahead and crawled all the major retailer in New Zealand.

This proved to be more difficult than expected due to AJAX and other pagination techniques. However, once this was done, I moved onto creating a webapp that was easy to use and function across all devices.

This was quite rough initially, however as my skills grew, I began to update the website with newer and newer features.

It's been updated three times to date and is now currently out of date unfortunately. The last crawl occuring in 2020 and will need updating in the near future to be worth using.

In the future

In the future I aim to move this project into a javascript framework to improve speed, SEO and general UX. I'll also automate as much of the crawling process as possible to increase the lifespan of the webapp.
